The combination of actives in the plant are similar to regular Cat’s Claw, but the effects are not. The complex of actives in regular Cat’s Claw includes a group of Alkaloids that are known collectively as Tetracyclic Oxindole Alkaloids, fortunately known as TOA’s for short! In regular Cat's Claw these TOA's can act to reduce the effectiveness of the key group of actives, the Pentacyclic Oxindole Alkaloids, or POA’s. It is the unhindered action of these POA’s that give Samento it's unique power. Some of the alkaloids present in Samento are known to have an anti bacterial action.
